This program downloads nasa's astronomy picture of the day.

You simply set your desktop background to apod.jpg.

Then you run the program and under gnome it should update automatically.

For XFCE which I use, I wrote a small python script that runs the python 
program and updates the background for me.

In the first case set fhapod_desktop.py to be run at boot.

In the latter case set fhapod.sh to be run at boot.

The python program requires python3 and libxml python bindings to be installed.
