ABOUT Exton|Defender SRS version 160705 and 150701 DESCRIPTION of both versions Exton|Defender SRS - based on Fedora 24 64 bit (version 160705) and Mageia 5 32bit (version 150701) - is a Linux system available as a Live DVD (Fedora and Mageia) for administrating or repairing your system and data after a crash. It aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the hard disk partitions. It comes with a lot of Linux software such as system tools and basic tools (editors, Midnight Commander, network tools). Exton|Defender can, however, also be used as a normal Linux Desktop System. It requires no installation, but can easily be installed to hard drive if you like. Desktop environments: Cinnamon 3.0.6 (Fedora) and Cinnaamon 2.4.5 (Mageia). NEWS 160705 re. Exton|Defender fc24 (Fedora 24) I’ve made a new version of Exton|Defender 64 bit based on Fedora 24, released 160621. It uses Cinnamon 3.0.6 and kernel 4.6.3. (Latest stable kernel as of 160705). NEWS 150701 re. Exton|Defender mga I’ve made a new version of Exton|Defender 32 bit based on Mageia 5. It uses Cinnamon 2.4.5 and kernel 3.19.8. SYSTEM TOOLS INCLUDED NTFS-3g, GParted, PartImage, Shred, Sfdisk (util-linux-ng), Rsync, Ddrescue, FSArchiver, TestDisk and Midnight Commander. Other programs (among many others): Google Chrome (in both versions), LibreOffice (in Fedora 22), Emacs, NetworkManager, Firefox, Thunderbird, Gimp, Samba, Java (JDK) and Java Runtime Environment (JRE), kernel headers and many compilation tools. All system changes are PERSISTENT. PASSWORDS The password for root (superuser) and live (normal user) is: root/live in the Mageia version. In version 160705 (Fedora 24) you can login to Cinnamon as root or liveuser without passwords. CONFIGURING X X is auto-configured during the boot from the DVD disc. DEFAULT LANGUAGE The default language (locale) is set to English. The ISO-file (Fedora 24 with Cinnamon) is of 1520 MB. The ISO-file (Mageia 5 with Cinnamon) is of 834 MB.
