Exton Core-V Live System (two versions) with Xfce 4.20 respectively LXQt 2.4 are remasters of Void Linux: Exton Core-V Xfce Edition and Exton Core-V LXQt Edition - BUILD DATE 261024 Both editions are designed to be lightweight, lightning-fast, and fully customizable. Built with ease of distribution in mind, both builds come pre-installed with Refracta Snapshot, allowing users to easily modify the running system and generate their own bootable custom Live ISO in just about five (5) minutes. WHY Void Linux? Exton Core-V leverages the independent, rolling-release architecture of Void Linux to deliver maximum control, performance, and simplicity: - runit Init System: Unlike distributions bound to systemd, Void Linux utilizes runit as its init service. This results in incredibly fast boot times, minimal system overhead, and straightforward service management. - xbps Package Manager: Built from scratch for Void, the X Binary Package System (xbps) is remarkably fast at installing, updating, and querying software packages while maintaining dependency integrity. - Complete Independence: Void Linux is not a fork or derivative of any other distribution. It is developed from the ground up by its community, offering a clean, bloat-free OS base. - Portable & Modular: Ideal for live media deployment, rescue operations, or as a lightweight daily driver on hardware ranging from older machines to modern workstations. THE TWO Desktop Editions Exton Core-V – Xfce 4.20 Edition: Features the latest Xfce 4.20 desktop environment. Delivers a polished GTK-based layout, modern visual tweaks, dual wallpaper setups for root/user distinction, and smooth desktop performance. Engineered for absolute minimal RAM consumption and extreme responsiveness while offering a modern, modular desktop interface. Study all installed packages: https://www.exton.se/exton-core-v-lxqt-installed-packages-261024.txt LOGIN Login from LightDM to Xfce4/LXQt as user or root with passwords live/root. BUILD Your Own ISO with Refracta Snapshot Both Exton Core-V editions serve as a complete "distro-builder kit." Whether you choose Xfce or LXQt: Boot the live environment or install it to disk/VirtualBox. Add your favorite applications, tweak themes, or adjust configurations. Launch Refracta Snapshot from the terminal or menu. Within 5 minutes, a new customized Live ISO will be compiled in /home/snapshot/, ready to be flashed to a USB drive or shared. An ALTERNATIVE to Refracta Snapshot You can create a standard Void Linux live image by running the command ./mklive.sh in the folder /root/void-mklive. The created ISO void-live-x86_64-6.18.58_1.iso will be of about 1200 MB. The Void live System will not have X and thus no DE. You can, however, run it and add all the packages you want.
