It allows a number of participants to follow events that occur during the run time of the exercise. Additionally the participants may provide feedback from within the application for an event if they choose to do so. The application also allows an exercise administrator (moderator) to control several aspects of the exercise such as set events retrieve feedback, start / stop the exercise and provide access to users among other things. The objective of this file is to provide the initial steps a moderator needs to take to set up the application and the exercise events/settings. For a full guide please download the appropriate documentation from the SourceForge project portal The application is provided in the form of a virtual machine file (VM) that can be hosted on Oracle VirtualBox. More information about the hosting software can be found on http://www.virtualbox.org To start an exercise you need to perform the following steps: 1) Download the Narrator OVA file from the SourceForge project portal. 2) Open VirtualBox and import the OVA you just downloaded via the menus: "File/Import Appliance". 3) Start the Narrator appliance. 4) Open your usual browser. Enter the URL http://localhost:9001 5) The login page will appear in the browser similar to the screenshot shown in the SourceForge project. You may directly login as the user "Moderator" as shown in the description in the Login Page (Username: Moderator Password: m0d#r@t0r). ---- you are now using a preloaded demo exercise with a few users. the preloaded scenario and users are available as separate downloads from the sourceforge page. ---- The remaining instructions are can be seen as a quick introduction on the customisation of Narrator to your particular exercise. 6) When logged in, select the "Exercice Settings" website from the menu bar. 7) Select the "User Management" tab in order to add additional users. You may add individual users or import a file of users for bulk creation of multiple users. A users file template/example can be downloaded from the SourceForge project website. Please note to have only one "Moderator" user and the rest as "Observers". 8) To import a scenario navigate to "Advanced Scenario Settings". Make sure your scenario is stopped before using the import function. Please note that it is only possible to create new events by importing the entire scenario file. Importing a scenario will remove all previous events and feedback. An example scenario file can be downloaded from the SourceForge project website. 9) When the scenario is imported click on the "Start Scenario" button in the "Advanced Scenario Settings" to initiate the scenario. 10) Users with the "Observer" rights can then participate in the exercise by logging in into the application and accessing the "Current Event" tab. From this page they may also provide any feedback. 11) The moderator user can set the current event in the exercise by using the "Scenario Steps" tab in the "Exercise Settings" page. NB: - In case you need to log into the VM you may log in as root.
