Encrust has a new look and a new way of working with supports. The window is redesigned around a start page and a tool rail, and it can now watch and control your network printers.
New window
- New layout. A top bar, a flat tool rail of twelve tools, side cards floating over a full-width stage, and a layer strip you can also drag from below to cut the model from the bottom. (#120)
- Start page. Recent files show as pictures, and it offers resin test prints of its own.
- Find palette. Search for any tool, action or model and jump to it.
- Keyboard friendly. Tab walks through the controls, and every control has a name and a visible focus ring.
- View cube and orthographic view, soft contact shadows under models, and a transform gizmo with a local or global axes switch.
- Machine, resin and settings windows. Profiles can be imported and exported, and the side cards remember their width between runs.
- Clearer checks. The verdict now names the worst issue instead of just saying the print fails, and risk ticks on the layer strip are easier to read.
- Hollow, drain and supports ghosts are drawn in the viewport so you can see what they will do.
- Cutting plane starts centred on the model.
- Profile forms have undo, and settings can switch to compensation.
Supports
- Cone trunks. A trunk is now a cone sized by its height and load, and braces are never wider than the trunk. (#122)
- Three raft styles: skates, grid and connected, sized by a margin.
- Edit with one drag. Aim a tip, cut a branch, and carry a support that stands on the model.
- Per-model support profiles, so each model can have its own settings.
- Preview before you place. See the supports Place would build, and use the printed presets that now ship with the app.
- Smarter placement. Supports are no longer put where they would not stand, small pillars are supported without tips, and tips never bite deep enough to poke out of a thin edge.
- Remove all comes back correctly after an undo.
Printers
- Watch and drive printers from the window. Pause, stop and inspect a running print, with a printer ring in the top bar that lists the printers that answer. (#124)
- Printers are found on every network interface, and each one's progress is followed.
- Network printers are listed in your printer profile, and hovering shows notes about the connection.
- Projects now remember the printer and resin by name, and show a picture of the plate.
β‘ Faster
- Copies of a model are cut and hollowed once and reused, so a plate of many identical models prepares much faster. (#123)
- Heavy models draw smoothly, at a detail level your graphics card can afford.
- Finding holes in a layer and repairing a model now use all processor cores.
π Fixed
- Repair no longer makes a model worse. Faces are turned the right way round more reliably, and faces that enclose nothing are removed. (#125)
- Supports now stand on the raft correctly, even without a pad, and supports, rafts and caps no longer flicker where surfaces overlap.
- The window no longer crashes when made very small.
- Encrust no longer crashes when quitting on macOS.
- Long model names are shortened with an ellipsis, and the full name shows on hover.
- Lay on face waits for auto-orient to finish.
- A hidden group of supports stays hidden after an undo.
