Encrust 0.1.0 — first public build
Alpha. This is the first build of Encrust you can install rather than compile. The whole pipeline works end to end, but it has had very little real-world printing behind it. Keep a slicer you trust installed and compare the two before a long print.
Encrust is a free, open-source slicer for MSLA and SLA resin printers. It runs entirely on your computer, needs no account and sends nothing anywhere, except a finished file to your printer when you ask it to.
What it does
- Import and repair: STL, OBJ and 3MF, with UVs and textures. Welding, hole filling, and non-manifold and winding repair.
- Prepare: auto-orientation, auto-arrange, multi-plate layouts, cut and split, and hollowing with infill, drain holes and trapped-resin detection.
- Supports: manual and automatic placement, branching trunks, rafts, bracing and painted patches.
- Slice: adaptive layer height, anti-aliasing with grey levels and blur, and textures pressed in as relief.
- Analyse: what the written stack actually cures, layer by layer, and where it is likely to fail, with islands, suction and weak cross-sections and the numbers behind each.
- Write and read back:
.goo,.ctbv4/v5,.cbddlp,.photon,.pwmxand the other Anycubic extensions,.sl1,.sl1s, the PNG.zip,.cxdlp,.svgxand.cws. - Send: over your local network via SDCP or PrusaLink.
- Script it: the
slicecommand runs the same pipeline as the window and writes a JSON report per model. See docs/cli.md (github.com).
Printers
Encrust ships 100 printer profiles from 14 makers. Only the ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra has printed a
file Encrust wrote. Every other profile was written from published specifications and checked by
reading the file back, not by curing resin, so treat it as unverified. The exposure settings in the
resin profiles are starting points: run a calibration print first. Encrypted .ctb is not written
yet.
If you own a printer, a test print and a report are the most useful contribution there is. Please open a printer-profile issue.
Install
| System | Download |
|---|---|
| macOS, Apple Silicon | Encrust-macos-aarch64.dmg |
| macOS, Intel | Encrust-macos-x86_64.dmg |
| Windows 10/11, 64-bit | Encrust-windows-x86_64-setup.exe |
| Linux, x86-64 | Encrust-linux-x86_64.AppImage or encrust_amd64.deb |
The window needs a GPU with Vulkan, Metal or DirectX 12. The slice command line is installed
alongside it.
The builds are not code-signed yet, so the first start needs one extra step:
- macOS: drag Encrust to Applications, then run
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Encrust.appin Terminal. - Windows: in the SmartScreen dialog, choose More info → Run anyway.
The encrust-*.tar.gz and .zip archives are portable copies of the same two programs, and what
the built-in update downloads. That update is off by default; turn it on in
Settings › Updates.
