  • Absolutely bulletproof. We use this to relay mail from all kinds of devices on our network through to our upstream email provider. It's nice to have the configuration for each sending device in a single file so we can easily see and audit it. But what we really love, is the stability of the application. It's genuinely bulletproof, never crashes, and doesn't have issues. I can say this with confidence after having run it for over 6 years without incident!
  • excellent project. many thanks for the creator. I use it on windows environment as proxy feature. it can easily handle over 300K mail in days.
  • My provider recently changed their policy to not allow unauthenticated SMTP to their servers anymore, and a few (older) devices were not able to sent out email notifications anymore because of that. Since those cards do not support smtp authentication and TLS I was looking for a simple relay service to use on my internal network. That is when I came across this nice piece of software I now use this application as a smtp relay for some old APC devices and switches to email notifications of events. Very easy to use and options are well documented. Will use this now as my default smtp server for all my devices. If I ever switch provider again all I have to do is one change in the emailrelay config and all devices are good again.
  • this software worked for me, I had a situation where I could not submit directly to my mail server, this software provided an intermediary. I was a bit confused with how to correctly edit and format the authentication file, Graeme replied promptly with a simple solution.
  • Best email proxy I've ever found! Works very stable on Windows
  • Use it on my router with OpenWrt as a SMTP for incoming email and POP to read it. Just receiving mail covers 99% of my needs. Sending email may be my next step but even now I'm very satisfied. See the OpenWrt Wiki for instruction how to setup it
  • Outstanding! Windows environment. Wanted to use iMail Server in a split/hybrid/peering arrangement with Microsoft 365, but iMail curiously only allows single x.x.x.x IP addresses for peering servers, and Microsoft 365 (understandably, if you know how this works) wants to accept relayed email using a URI with the embedded tenant domain e.g. example-com.mail.protection.outlook.com. Used E-MailRelay on a W64 VM on the same LAN as the iMail server (so as not to have to mess with re-assigning ports - it's all on port 25). It simply relays mail from users on the same domain(s) on iMail to same-domain users on Microsoft 365, from x.x.x.x (the LAN IP of the E-MailRelay VM) to example-com.mail.protection.outlook.com; worked perfectly the first time. Asked a question of the developer before implementation and got a rapid response. Product instructions are very well documented at emailrelay.sourceforge.net. Lightweight and simple. Linux, W32 and W64 versions. Runs on Windows as a service (what I'm doing here) or from command line. Couldn't ask for more. Many, Many Thanks!!!
  • This application was a life savor. I upgraded my Win2016 server to Win2022 at which time I found there built in SMTP relay is no longer working and they have no plans to fix it (being they say it was deprecated years ago). Honestly this works even better then the built in Windows SMTP relay. Five stars for sure from me and huge thanks to the developers!!! Sadly the 1 star review talking about a virus is still being shown almost 10 years later. I have scanned this application and there is no virus. I'm betting it was a false positive even then.
  • Great and lightweight! Supports OAuth2 / SASL XOAUTH2
  • my problem was eudora, my email client, is ancient and doesn't understand modern security requirements. This fixed my problem perfectly. Thanks!
  • Using this for creating a local smtp which does not require any auth. My legacy datacenter hardware from APC does not support fancy stuff like smtp auth, so... this way, i can deliver the email, E-MailRelay directly forwards it to my ISPs SMTP which of course is SMTPS. Perfect! Be sure to use the GUI, it looks solala but is the key to fast creation of the config files. Thanks, Mr. Creator for this - i tried so many local smtp tools and they all sucked. This one doesn't and i love it.

  • This was the simple solution I was looking for! For quite a while now the "Scan to Email" option on my multifunction printer has not been operational. This started when my ISP decided (appropriately) that all SMTP must use SSL or TLS connections, which my legacy Xerox 6015 does not support. I looked for workarounds but could not find one, until now. E-MailRelay was super easy to set up and get functioning. The one minor issue is that during initial install, while "--forward-to=" was configured correctly, neither "--forward" nor "--forward-on-disconnect" were enabled so while the spool received the email successfully from the printer it never relayed that to the destination server. I added both of those options to the .bat file for the service start and restarted the service and the spool was processed successfully! Everything is working as expected! Thank you!
  • Hands down the best thing I've found out there - was looking for a straight forward, easy to use substitute for the smtp server/relay in IIS that comes with Windows Server, but instead for Windows 10. Just an awesome, light weight package that fits the bill. Good job.

  • E-MailRelay is the best solution for email relay server. I needed to put on hold outgoing emails from my osTicket and send them on schedule. The setup was very easy and when i requested more info and help from the developer, he was there for to support me.

  • Mailrelay is the most optimal newsletter distribution system for www.hecmo.com. It's easy to operate and it's constantly updated, effortlessly improving your productivity and performance. The new features are very useful and easy to use - it takes only few minutes to create a stylish A/B and test it. We choose to use Mailrelay because of the great balance of features and the reasonable pricing. Also, we are very satisfied with the response from the support team - it seems that the company has the same values as us, and puts the customer above all else.

  • Great solution if you have a huge amount of SMTP requests from different servers and pcs in your company to the same SMTP server on the web. Providers often limit the ammount of concurrent requests from the same outgoing IP. With this nice tool you can get rid of annoying 421 error messages, Catch them all and relay them every 30 seconds or so and you're fine.

  • Great and helpful software. I will recommend it to my colleagues sysadmins. Developer responded to bug report promptly with solution and bug-fix/solution add. It would be nice to have packages for rmp and deb platform created after bug-fix or feature added but it is not crucial.

  • I love this software! Absolutely amazing that it is free! I use this software to run a local smtp server without authentication for forwarding "Intel Rapid Storage Solution" messages which only supports server without smtp authentication. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

  • This is an amazing piece of software. Layered atop (or alongside) a SMTP MTA, emailrelay provides an elegant yet simple solution for mobile access to email services. The software appears to have been developed with thoughtful consideration of security features and resource demands. It's light weight and quite flexible in deployment options. I've searched for something like this for years ... now, my search is over.
