This is the second and final phase of a project to make a machine to produce Duplicate Bridge hands . See part 1 here https://sourceforge.net/projects/duplicatebridge/
The main script recognizes a playing card and then indicates which bucket: north, south, east or west it should go into
I have not bothered with engineering elements (eg placing the cards for analysis and then removing them into containers) as this is beyond my skills. Instead I have concentrated on the core programming
Firstly the card is reproducibly mechanically located under the camera. It is imaged, then cropped - once for the suit and once for the value. Using Open CV these images are manipulated and the contours are analysed. These are then compared with reference contours (a set of scripts to produce these images are provided)
Contours are an ideal way to do this as small rotations have little effect. The identified card is then located in a particular hand through some basic Python.
