I tried many different Finder replacements on Mac OS, but this one beats them all in terms of functionality and flexibility.

Just as an advice: While trying to download with Brave browser the installation file was rejected. Then I tested with Malwarebytes and passed. So, I downloaded using Firefox and everything was fine. The program seems to be very good but have so many options that it's impossible to test everything at once. So, will test for a few days and shall return to give my impressions.

The program itself is quite nice. But I still had to uninstall it because it is sloppily programmed. There is order on all my systems. When I install a program, I decide where it is saved and where it is allowed to create shortcuts. Here it's like someone s***ting across my apartment instead of asking where the toilet is.

This is the best software so far! I gave up using Cocoatech software as they ended with a yearly subscription, I m so happy with Double Commander and all its features! Thank you very much! (using it on a mac)

Absolutely a must. Great features. Best free alternative to TotalCommander with some extra features as well.

The only real alternative to Total Commander on Mac. Actually, after using it for a few months, it's also great for Windows too. This is a must have. Great app. Lots of settings to play with.

It just works. Best file explorer for Windows and Unix, hotlist it perfect for power users in my filed of profession (data science and research). Tab can be customised in so many ways! It's design is rudimental but gets the job done without any fuss.

Nice. 1. When will you come out with a non-Beta version? 2. In the ABOUT dialog it is usual to add, "Check for Updates" which is missing. One has to go into the download site to compare the version offered to the current version. 3. It would be helpful when making a search to see a progress bar and a history of recent search terms.

Продолжительное время работал в Тотале, но с переходом на Мак столкнулся с необходимостью замены давно знакомой программы. С радостью для себя обнаружил Дабл Коммандер. Из преимуществ - кросплатформенность, работает и на Виндовс и на Мак. За это огромная благодарность. Использую теперь и на win10 , и на Mac. Однако, буквально сегодня обнаружил один недостаток: при переименовании файла\папки, использую сочетание клавиш "Shift+Л", Дабл Коммандер распознает как "Shift+Esc". Проверить смог только на предыдущей версии и на новой. Забавный баг. =))

If one is not a "Total Commander" user, one needs to adapt hotkeys and GUI preferences in order to use "Double commander" as an replacement for MS explorer.exe. For instance F5 hotkey acts like one of file operation action, not as "Refresh" action, there are "[..]" parentheses around each folder (parentheses can be turned off in preferences). Once initial configuration is complete, this application is very productive. It demonstrates superior speed, file listing is is blazing fast, I have never experiences such responsiveness (many times faster than "FreeCommander" and faster than MS explorer.exe). Very useful features are: 1) Directory Hotlist: Press shortcut key (F1 as an example) any time to bring menu with user defined links to user folders. The great thing is that OS or "Double Commander" environment variables or relative paths can be used for this list; 2) Existing action to copy currently full path, path or filename of the selection. Toolbar icon can be configured for this action; 3) Flexible toolbar icons: Any action can be assigned to any icon in the toolbar; 4) One can add custom buttons to the toolbar. This can be used to run batch files. I use this to launch script which will extract all the zip files in current dir and automatically deletes zip files afterwards. All this is done via single button click in the toolbar; 5) The speed; 6) Great dark mode (in development version only); 7) Grid view filelist with alternating colors of the rows (configurable); 8) Crossplatform; 9) Completely portable, no need to install. Have it in gdrive and use it in different computers with identical configuration. Only development version has great dark theme, but many bugs as well. I am using this file manager on a daily basis, as main file manager and happy with it. Five stars in overall.

I can't install it on Ubuntu 18 64 bit. I downloaded doublecmd-0.9.10.qt5.x86_64.tar.xz and unzipped the files. Hi alexx2000 ! Super file manager, just the right portable tool for working on the command prompt - I really like Double Commander. A few small things would be to mention, but I leave, because everything can be discovered or configured so far.
