DirWatch is a dockapp that monitors a directory for new files. Once detected, the file can be copied, linked (hard-link only) or moved to a second directory, with or without a new extension.

Primarily designed for Gnome but should works on KDE.

wmappl has a new maintainer and home: https://github.com/wildstar84/wmappl wmappl is a simple application launcher dockapp. It is configured with a list of programs and icons which are displayed within the dockapp. If more than six icons are configured, the scroll buttons may be used to cycle through the list.
Link Monitor
LinkMon is a Perl script that runs in the background and monitors the Link. This can be used on servers or gateways where there are multiple links (ISP's). When the primary link fails, linkmon will automatically divert all traffic to the second link.
mirdir
Mirdir allows to synchronize two directory trees in a fast way. Only the differences between the two sets of files are copied while the excess files/directories in the destination tree are removed (unless there was an explicit request to keep them).
