Device Mounter intends to be a complete replacement for KDE Device Notifier applet,
with basic features like enumerating devices (including internal drives), mounting,
unmounting, opening in file manager and managing samba shares.
SOME FEATURES:
Default mount point is /mnt/<partition UUID>
Root (/) and swap partitions are excluded from devices list.
Requered passwordless sudo privileges for running "blkid" and "fdisk -l" commands
(launches from code). Privileges for these two commands can be set in /etc/sudoers.
HOW TO BUILD AND INSTALL: unpack archive, navigate to top level project
directory (devmount) and run:
make (or "make clean" to remove intermediate files, like .moc, .o)
sudo make install
NOTE: default installation directory is /opt/devmount. It can be changed by editing
INSTALLDIR variable in devmount.pro file. As well you have to change
devmount.desktop file: replace /opt/devmount for EXEC and ICON with your
installation path.
If default installation directory was changed, you have to rebuild project:
qmake devmount.pro
qmake
make (or "make clean")
sudo make install
HOW TO USE: The most suitable place for app is panel. It gives you quick access
to devices. Application can be added to panel as well as any other launcher
(e.g. Dolphin, firefox and so on). Unlock desktop widgets, navigate Dolphin
to /usr/share/applications, drag devmount.desktop file to panel and drop it.
It will add application launcher to panel.
SAMBA SHARES: The program may be used to manage samba shares. Configuration
file ($HOME/.devmount/devmount.conf) contains a samba share samples that may be
used as templates. "mountCommand" parameter depends on your samba server's
configuration and may need to be modified to meet the server's requirements.
If you have no samba shares, sample sections (SambaShare1 and SambaShare2)
should be removed from config file.
