'There is no reiser5', said the main reiser4 maintainer/developer; yet, he announced his new project as 'reiser5' ;-)

Unstable snapshot of new Metztli Reiser4, Software Framework Release Number (SFRN) 5.1.3, minimal Debian Installer (d-i) for AMD64.

Netboot ISO Image may be 'burned' to USB stick with command (assuming USB device is at /dev/sdb) *else* modify or you risk data loss:

dd if=metztli-reiser4-sfrn5.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4M; sync

and/or for AMD Epyc/Ryzen CPUs
dd if=metztli-reiser4-sfrn5-z.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4M; sync

Enables d-i create, partition, format, recover, and native installation operations on Reiser4 SFRN 5 filesystems. If expert install you must create minimal 0.5 - 1 GB boot partition (ext2, JFS,etc) as GRUB doesn't support booting from reiser4.

Guided installation defaults to minimal JFS /boot partition and all other partitions default to reiser4 sfrn 5.

Rescue mode now automagically loads reiser4 module, Xingon! ;-)

Do not use on SFRN < 5.1.3

Features

  • IMPORTANT: file system check fsck.reiser4 utility does not work -- as it has not been implemented.
  • Updated installer based on Debian Bullseye for AMD64 architecture
  • Fixed SSL download issues on December 21, 2020, Birth of Huitzilopochtli!
  • Debian GNU Parted updated to v3.4-1
  • xvi, tiny vi clone editor included in the Debian Installer (d-i) media
  • Includes most non-free firmware for easier remote installation.
  • Retains elvis-tiny text editor and is available in Debian-Installer.
  • Installs linux-image-5.16.0-6+reiser4-5.1.3-amd64_5.16.20-2+reiser4~5.1.3_amd64.deb
  • Installs meta-package linux-image-amd64_5.16.20-2+reiser4~5.1.3_amd64.deb
  • Reiser4 new Software Framework Release Number (SFRN) 5.1.3
  • Installs reiser4progs 2.0.5-1.1 Software Framework Release Number (SFRN) 5.1.3
  • Modified busybox component fetches Reiser4 kernel/utilities via SSL
  • May be used as Reiser4 (newer SFRN 5.1.3) partial rescue bootable media
  • FEATURE (NOT A BUG): Select <Yes> to "Continue the install without loading kernel modules?"
  • Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV) ;-)
  • NO WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER
  • Your constructive feedback is welcomed.
  • ALL downloaded reiser4 sfrn 5 package components will be moved to /var/log/ upon a successful installation.
  • If on very first boot Systemd (ugh!) fails to mount disks, causes other issues, etc., please wait a couple of minutes until the booting process stabilizes. Subsequently, shut down/start up and/or reboot your system. Subsequent boots should be smooth.
  • Huelmati [Enjoy]!

Sorry for the late reply but much appreciated. You may want to give a spin to the new Reiser4 Software Framework Release Number (SFRN) 5.1.3, aka 'Reiser5'. Hope you and your family are doing fine in these global hectic times. Cheers!
