Debian 10 mate is based on debian 10 buster (debian stable branch), and uses debian repositories for all packages installed (Except with a notable exception for this release regarding flash; see "notes" below). It is equipped with the mate desktop environment (mate 1.20.4). There are 32 and 64bit versions available, among 32 and 64bit versions that support efi. There's a mismatch of grub bootloader versions that don't currently allow the grub-pc and grub-efi packages to be installed simultaneously. Download the efi iso so you can install on systems without needing to switch on classic boot in your bios. Download the the non-efi version to install on systems that don't support efi. If you take a close look, you'll notice 4 iso's in regard to 32 and 64bit efi, and 32 and 64bit classic boot that don't have efi in the file name. VIRTUAL KEYBOARD Onboard the virtual keyboard will now display itself on the login screen and lock screen. REMOTE CLIENT Remmina currently has bugs with it's implementation of rdp (remote desktop protocol). The only way to get around them was to do something uncharacteristic, but to include krdc for the remote desktop client as it was stable. I really don't like departing from a gtk environment with non-gtk apps but remmina has bugs they're fixing. FLASH Flash plugin straight from adobe's site is included. There's still too many sites that require flash despite the adobe's cut off date. ENCRYPTION AND ANONYMITY I always include tor and openvpn, now also included is wireguard for extra vpn protocol support. One can easily connect to tor network for anonymity, and openvpn and wireguard vpn servers can be connected to; or make an openvpn or wireguard vpn server. RELEASE AND PROJECT NAMING There's too many old "debian mate"'s on sourceforge, but mine's regularly updated, and you can tell by looking at the name of the current version.
