As more people access the internet through AI instead of directly visiting websites, the traditional ads model stops working. If creators can’t earn from their work, they stop producing new content, and AI loses fresh training data — a lose-lose situation. The open web needs a new business model.
Built on the x402 protocol, Copus creates an incentive system for information collection by humans and AI agents, along with a matching marketplace product. When users (or AIs) access web data, both curators and original creators earn: curators receive active income, and creators receive passive income. This drives the viral growth of the x402 ecosystem.
Features
- Social bookmarking: It’s like a decentralized Digg or a Pinterest-for-websites. You can share (curate) any URI (URL) through the site or the browser extension. Others can collect and build on your collections.
- Pay-to-visit: Finding valuable content is valuable. You can set a stablecoin price for visiting a link you shared. Payments are powered by the x402 protocol.
- Support the open web: Half of the pay-to-visit revenue goes to the author of the original content, claimable after they opt into x402 or register a Copus account.
- Permanent bookmark storage: Your collections (bookmarks) are automatically stored on the Arweave blockchain. We pay the storage fees so you’ll never lose them.
