Chromium-Gost is an open-source web browser based on Chromium that adds support for Russian GOST cryptographic algorithms in secure connections. It extends Chromium's standard TLS functionality to work with websites requiring GOST-based encryption. The browser uses the Microsoft Security Support Provider Interface (msspi) to access compatible cryptographic providers installed on the operating system. It detects whether GOST algorithms are available and advertises their support during connection negotiation. When a website requires GOST encryption, Chromium-Gost can switch from the standard BoringSSL connection mechanism to msspi. This process is designed to operate transparently during browsing. Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, it serves users and organizations accessing websites that depend on GOST cryptographic standards.
