chips

Chips is a toolbox of dependency-free C headers for emulating classic 8-bit chips and complete computer systems. Individual chip emulators communicate through virtual pin bit masks that model hardware inputs and outputs. This approach allows complete systems to be assembled by connecting emulated components much like physical chips on a breadboard. The code uses a portable subset of C99 compatible with GCC, Clang, and Microsoft C compilers. The repository contains chip cores, complete system implementations, user-interface components, code generation tools, and utility code. Separate projects provide tests, examples, WebAssembly demonstrations, schematics, manuals, and research material. Its design makes the emulators easy to embed inside games, debugging tools, educational software, or browser applications.
