CamStudio records screen and audio activity on your computer to create AVI video files and turns them into bandwidth-friendly, streaming Flash videos (SWF). CamStudio also lets you add screen captions or video annotations to your recordings through anti-aliased images, or by producing a Webcam movie of yourself (screen in screen) on your desktop. And CamStudio comes with its own lossless codec that produces crystal clear results with a much smaller filesize compared some popular codecs, like Microsoft Video 1. Additional options include cursor controls, the ability to record an entire screen or a portion of it, and selections for output quality. Best of all, CamStudio is easy to use and navigate, plus it includes a built-in Help file.

It is a useful software but the problem with this software is it has limitations. Only mass of the video upto 2 GB or about 10 minutes in high quality or 30 minutes in medium quality. Also i cannot input and output record which is indeed a problem.

I installed this on my system and did not get any viruses or adware installed. I watched the tutorial video from 2013 on the author's website and in that video he not only informs users that they can choose to not install the adware but also asks users to inform him if they have trouble uninstalling the adware. He states that he considers that a breach. If you have been infected, then you should contact the author at camstudio dot org and inform him of the issues you have encountered. Take care.

Easy to use, a good recorder for home projects, low file size, the recording quality is good however is good enough to record at full screen.

**SourceForge project page is fine, camstudio.org is fishy** I get a feeling that the site camstudio.org is somehow not genuine now and something must have happened behind the scenes. The guy "TerryBritton" in the forums there seems to be very suspicious. I strongly suspect he just somehow took over the site and then wrapped the app up with malware installer. The project itself here on SourceForge is fine, but the problem is that it has not been updated for *more than 2 years*, so either something weird happened or it's just that the developers already abandoned the project. Anyways the site camstudio.org is pure rubbish now.

You fools complaining about adware, If you download the installer from sourceforge, then there is no adware. What you ninnys have done is clicked on an external link and downloaded a third party "downloader installer" and gone happyclicky on everything so it's your own silly fault for not READING everything before you click on stuff! If you just had done what I did and got the installer directly from sourceforge then there is no crap included. As for the program, pretty basic, and a few bugs with the help system, but it does what it claims.
