CamStudio records screen and audio activity on your computer to create AVI video files and turns them into bandwidth-friendly, streaming Flash videos (SWF). CamStudio also lets you add screen captions or video annotations to your recordings through anti-aliased images, or by producing a Webcam movie of yourself (screen in screen) on your desktop. And CamStudio comes with its own lossless codec that produces crystal clear results with a much smaller filesize compared some popular codecs, like Microsoft Video 1. Additional options include cursor controls, the ability to record an entire screen or a portion of it, and selections for output quality. JJ Recorder is a free, lightweight screen recording program for Windows. It records your screen — full screen, a selected region, or a specific window — together with system audio and microphone, and saves to common formats out of the box. Built on Qt and FFmpeg, it stays simple and fast while still offering the options power users want.

Qtape is a recording program, currently only available for Linux, which can be used to make recordings of a desktop and webcam at the same time. It is possible to make a full-screen recording of just the desktop, webcam, or even use a PDF as slides. It can also layout several of those in the output video at the same time. It is written using Qt 5 (For the interface), LibAV (For writing output files), X11 (For desktop recording), Video4Linux2 (For webcam recording) and Poppler (For PDF reading).
