Callimac

Callimac is an open-source knowledge management system designed and developed by Marco Hödtke.

The system enables users to import, structure, index and search document collections, making information easier to retrieve, analyse and reuse.

Built on the eXist XML database, Callimac combines document conversion, XML-based storage, full-text indexing and advanced search using XPath and XQuery. Its Expert Search functionality supports the retrieval and compilation of relevant information from multiple documents.

Callimac demonstrates the integration of knowledge management concepts, information architecture and software engineering into a practical document research platform.

Originally developed as an independent software project, Callimac is presented here as a demonstration of its architecture and capabilities rather than an actively maintained commercial product.
