BTCPay Server Vault is a free, open-source desktop application that connects cryptocurrency hardware wallets to compatible web applications. It is primarily designed to integrate hardware wallet signing with BTCPay Server. The application runs a local web server that communicates with connected wallets through the Hardware Wallet Interface library. Users can authorize websites to access wallet functionality through explicit permission requests. This approach allows transaction signing without directly exposing private keys to the connected web application. Its local communication interface forwards supported hardware wallet operations and returns their results. The project includes a reusable .NET library that wraps the Hardware Wallet Interface command-line tools. Installation packages are available for supported desktop operating systems, including macOS and Linux.
