WELCOME!!! My name is Dan Davis. My goal when I started this project was to create an electronic study Bible. I have used paper study Bibles for years and wanted to create one using freely available resources. Why? God's Word should be free and everyone should have the ability to study it indepth and get to know their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I’ve created a bootable USB Bible based Linux distribution to help you on your journey in following the Lord Jesus Christ. You can install this on a dedicated computer or simply run it live from the USB stick. Remember, if you install it, it may overwrite everything in your computer,….so be careful. I suggest getting hold of a 10-15 year old discarded computer and trying it on it. This will easily install and run on 4 gig of RAM and a 30 gig hard drive. No support is officially provided at this time, but if you are having serious problems with the Bible based part of this, you can contact me at dhdavis.37 at yahoo.com. MX Linux support is available at their forums, but since this is an UNOFFICIAL respin of MX Linux, their support techs will not help you with the Bible portion, just the MX Linux portion. If you connect this software to the internet, it automatically checks for Linux software updates. You will see a green icon in the right bottom of the screen and/or a popup on the screen. If you elect to let it update, the password is: 2Timothy3:16 (ALSO THE PASSWORD FOR THIS LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM!!)
The latest release of the Bible Study project, biblestudy-09042026, has limited changes to it since May 2026. I installed the latest patches. One quirk I'm still trying to resolve is Bible verse hyperlinks within many of the included text documents to the ccel.org online Bible website. Sometimes they don't handle their lookup correctly, especially in the PDF documents. If you click on one of the hyperlinks and it takes you to ccel.org's online Bible, but the wrong verse, you'll have to specify which verse you want to view at the ccel.org website.

Depending on what system you are currently using (Linux, Mac, or Windows), you can download the opensource balenaEtcher software to burn the ISO image to a USB flashdrive or SD card. You can find it here:

The latest release can be installed with init or systemd as the core. What does that mean? Basically, the init core is the historical Linux setup and systemd is the latest and greatest. Both work fine.
What's Included?
-Many modern and older Bible translations: The Berean (BSB), New English Translation (NET), updated World English Bible(WEB) in the Bible section or use the 1995 or 2020 New American Standard Bible(NASB) versions in some of the many preinstalled and configured software packages. The Berean(BSB), WEB and NET Bibles are very modern translations. The ESV version is available with the E-Sword Bible study software. I highly recommend the Berean. KJV, WEB, and BSB are all in the public domain and can be quoted freely without restrictions, except KJV if you're in England.
- Preinstalled and configured Bible study software: Although Bible Analyzer is no longer included because of system incompatibilities, theWord, E-Sword, Alkitab, Bibletime, Xiphos, and several other Bible software packages should more than make up for it. I encourage you to check them out and learn about their capabilities.
-Both dated and newer materials are included. Use whatever you feel most comfortable with. The dated materials were written more for the King James Bible (included). Try them with the Berean (BSB), New English Translation (NET), updated World English Bible(WEB) or use the 1995 or 2020 New American Standard Bible(NASB) versions in some of the above mentioned software packages. The BSB, WEB and NET Bibles are very modern language translations and I have included updated resources that can be used with them.
-Discipleship and evangelism helps and workbooks are included. There is a whole section on Discipleship guides itself.
-Discourse on the various theological viewpoints from various authors can be found in their own subsection.
-Topical studies of various types with specific helps on holiness and overcoming certain sins.
-Helps with leading group Bible studies with commentaries that aid with question development.
This project is about learning how to follow Jesus Christ, knowing what He did for us, and hopefully helping you in your walk with Him. Its also about learning how to read the Bible and understand what God is saying to the world, both in the church and outside the walls. God inspired or breathed out his thoughts through many people over the centuries. These thoughts were recorded in various forms finally resulting in the printed and digital forms of the Bible we see today. The story within the Bible is true. It has a common theme, if we’re willing to accept it. What is this common theme? The salvation of human souls from eternal death. God made us; we rebelled resulting in separation from Him; and He made a way to save us. The Bible is the book that tells us all about it.
