The artec::engine is a open-source high-level API for Irrlicht and various other engines (e.g. newton). Its the base for Project Atropine, a first person shooter also developed by artec but it should also provide a solid base for other game projects.

Trepidation
Trepidation is an open source first person shooter based on the IOQuake3 engine. Trepidation was a project originally conceived on April 9, 2006 with the intent to build a free first person shooter with a sci-fi theme. Retribution Engine
The Retribution Engine is designed for first person shooter games on Windows PCs using OpenGL and OpenAL.
