- Back up the installed apps to a folder: in the settings, under App backup, choose a folder on the device, on a card or in a cloud service the file picker shows, and the apps installed from outside Google Play are copied to it as their APK files, one folder per app with the splits of a bundle. The list shows every app with its installer and size, the ones not from Google Play chosen to begin with. A second backup to the same folder copies only what has changed; an app removed from the device stays in the folder until you delete it there. The store's own settings file goes along
- Restore from a folder: on this or another device, the same page reads the folder and tells of each app whether it is missing, behind, the same, newer, signed with another key, or needs a newer Android, and installs what is chosen, one after the other, through the system's own prompts. The sources, bookmarks and settings in the folder can be brought back at the same time
- The settings as a page of their own, with the way back at the top, instead of a sheet pulled up over the list; the backup and the restore open from it
- The apps' own data is not part of the backup, which Android does not let a store read
