AOS Contribution Methods AllegianceOS, like (most) OpenSource projects is in vital need of support to keep the project alive and growing. In order to do this, I respectfully ask any community member who has found AOS to be a project worth support to consider doing so via the following means: - Patreon (patreon.com/allegianceos) - PayPal (paypal.me/kreifel) - Graphics (explained below) - Hosting (explained below) - Package Queues (explained below) ################################################# # Supporting AOS will soon be multi-beneficial! # ################################################# As AOS is entirely dependent on Slackware Linux, I (Kevan Reifel), pledge 10% of all future (monetary) donations to the Slackware Linux project on a monthly basis after the initial support goal of $2,000 is raised for needed hardware and hosting/domain upfront/maintenance costs. This will most likely be done via PayPal. After each month with donations coming in, they will be publicly displayed both before and after the support goal is met. Any funds sent to the Slackware Project will also be noted in the file for public record. It is hoped that this gesture of good will can help not only the developers of Slackware Linux, but also the communities of both Slackware and AOS! Long live Slackware Linux, Patrick Volkerding, and the core development team of Slackware! :) ################################################# Graphics - As a programmer, I lack some basic artistic abilities, and thus could use help if anyone feels they have time to do so. Improved logos would be a good place to start. Once a website is possible, some animations may also be needed. If you're willing to help, please contact me via: paracoder@protonmail.com Hosting - This may simply need to come as a result of financial support, but ideally I need a server which will allow the hosting of both a website and some Node.js based software to manage voting, software syncing, bug reporting, etc. All of this will be websocket driven and NO PERSONAL DATA will be required for any service attached to AOS. Telemetry does not require personally identifying information, and thus none will be mandatory. Email addresses will be OPTIONAL, in the event any kind of account recovery is needed. Package Queues - AOS uses it's own custom installer (aos-installer found in /usr/sbin) which is capable of combining queues from both package mirrors and SBo. As there is far too much software in either repository for me to resolve all package dependencies, it is my hope that advanced users would help "fill in the blanks" where is needed. These queue files exist in: /usr/share/aos/dep_files. Note: Currently, the Patreon is without any kind of tiered rewards system as I currently lack the infrastructure needed for this. Plans for patreons in the future will include more votes regarding it's development (a voting system for new features will be added), as well as various sync services which will offer more benefits/uses with donation. My thanks to you all for your support and consideration! ~ Kevan
