  • I think the only reason those tools are so popular is because there is no other alternative. The documentation is fragmentary and very incomplete, the source code is a complete disaster - functions with over 1000 lines of code each are not a rarity. The only way you can use it is through console tools. Forget about API (even though it's written in C++) because they would have to rewrite the whole thing. The console tools are slow and very bugged. This is not something you could use in a professional environment - at best it's something you could use for some experiments to write a paper, but even then it's a shame there are no better alternatives.

Hello, I'm sorry I didn't see this until now but, regardless of the delay, it deserves a response. In order to be more helpful to our user base, can you provide some more details with respect to "the console tools being slow and very bugged"? ---perhaps pointing to some specific examples. Thanks, Nick

  • I got ANTs to create population-specific templates but then discovered its various capabilities. It is now my preferred normalization tool. I use it for example for DTI distortion correction, segmentation (via Atropos), fMRI preprocessing and more.
  • Far and away, the best package I have used for alignment
  • Good work:)
