I'm very sorry to hear about this problem. I'm afraid I can't immediately see what could be wrong: please could you try some tests for me to try to pin down the problem? What I would like to do is find out which procedure is actually giving the error and unfortunately Word won't tell me this unless you actually have the templates open as documents. First can I just ask one question: when you installed the new version of the tools, did there appear to be any problem with the installation? I'm just wondering whether perhaps a bit of the old version was left over or something? Anyway, if you could try these tests for me that would be really helpful: Test 1 ------ This is to see whether the error is in ZWTools.dot itself. Please could you start Word (with all the shortcuts in your startup directory). You will get the error. Now if you can get to the Z menu from the Addins tab (and that's interesting, because you wouldn't be able to if the tools were working properly!) go to the tools menu and choose maintenance/reinitialise. (If you can't get to the menu, do ALT+F8 to get a list of macros and run InitialiseAll) Does this give the error again? If it does, then please open ZWTools.dot, ZWUI2003.dot and ZWUI2007.dotm from the folder C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\ZWTools as if they were documents. Now do reinitialise again. This time, when the error is reported, I think you should get a "Debug" option on the error dialog. If so, please could you click that. It should take you into the bit of VBA that is going wrong. Please could you send me a screenshot or tell me what procedure and line is highlighted? Test 2 ------- If Test1 doesn't give the answer, then perhaps the error is happening when ZWUI2007 first loads. To catch that, please can you try the following steps: 1 Have you got the developer tab on the ribbon? If not, please can you get it by going to Word Options and checking "Show the developer tab on the ribbon" 2 Now, with all the Z shortcuts installed in your STARTUP folder, start Word. Click the developer tab and then the Document Template button. This should show you a dialog box with all the installed templates. There should be ZWTools.dot, ZWUI2003.dot and ZWUI2007.dotm, all ticked. Please could you tell me if there are any others as well? 3. Now please uncheck ZWUI2007.dotm in the dialog box and click OK. The Z tab should disappear. Now please Open ZWUI2007.dotm from C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\ZWTools as if it was a document. Now what happens? Do you get the error? If so, do you now have a "Debug" option on the error report? If so, please click it - it should show you the VBA that is in error - if you could send me a screenshot or description of that it would be great. If you don't get the error, does the Z tab now work? I'm really sorry to have to ask you for all this, but I'm afraid it's hard for me to pin down the fault without asking you for this help. If you are able to accept a remote assistance call I could do this on your computer remotely - if that's a possibility, please let me know. I will certainly try my best to sort this out as quickly as possible Yours Anthony Anthony Hall 22 Hayward Road Oxford OX2 8LW UK +44 (0) 7779 255147 an...@an... www.anthonyhall.org -----Original Message----- From: agnis [mailto:ag...@tv...] Sent: 20 October 2011 10:50 To: zwo...@li... Subject: [Zwordtools-users] Z word tools 2007 error Hi What could be the problem - after installing newest Z word tools version each time when opening Word 2007 i get error message "Microsoft Visual Basic Run-time error '5' Invalid procedure call or argument". The seperate "Z" tab in menu bar also doesn't seem to work properly (although looks like from add-ins tab Z word tools works fine) When I remove "ZWUI2007" shortcut from C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP error message disappears but so do Z tab. I have Windows Vista / Office 2007 and previously I had Z word tools v.1.x.x installed and if i remember correctly it worked fine.
