Within zsync, most of the code for the rsync algorithm and zsync metadata handling is already factored out into librcksum and libzsync, but these are not currently exposed as dynamic libraries and are simply linked statically into the zsync client. The intention is that people could use these as a library, and they are only not exposed as dynamic libraries at the moment because I have not tried using them from another program (nor has anyone else that I know of).
