hey, i finally got zsnes 1.36 to complile on my redhat 7.2 x86 box. i = spent the better part of a day searching google and these boards for an = answer to the dreaded zzip.c problem. i was also surprised that i couldn't find any binaries for zsnes except = for some old mandrake packages. anyway, i posted a binary of zsnes 1.36 for anyone who couldn't get it = to compile since it's a great emu and works like a champ under linux = (sound, joystick, everything). the binary can be downloaded here: http://home.speedfactory.net/jpoole/ also see the page for a quick howto if you'd like to compile zsnes from = the cvs source code too. enjoy! |

Hmmmm. Is the sdl-config script in your path? Are you using the slackware packages, or did you build it yourself? If you built it yourself, which configure options did you use? Were their any sdl compilation errors? you may have an older version installed that isn't overwritten by the newer version (unlikely, since 8.1 is the newest version of slackware..... the one I use, btw. Excellent choice.) Are you using CVS? (Either SDL or zsnes) have you rebooted (or ran ldconfig) since installing SDL (you probably don't need to do this, but you never know.) Have you gotten previous versions SDL/zsnes/slackware to compile/run? If so, which combinations have worked? --- Julian Parker <jmp...@em...> wrote: > i installed sdl 1.2.5 but no matter what i do i get > the following error: > > hecking for SDL - version >= 1.2.0... no > *** Could not run SDL test program, checking why... > *** The test program failed to compile or link. Hello all, I'm trying to compile ZSNES on a machine running RedHat Linux 8.0 (kernel 2.4.18-14). The computer has an Intel Celeron 300MHz processor and 192mb of SDRAM. Plenty of harddrive and swap space is also available. Required software versions: SDL-1.2.4-5 SDL-devel-1.2.5-1 nasm-0.98-1 (obtained from kernel.org) zlib-1.1.4-4 libpng-1.2.2-6 The 'configure' script worked fine, but a bit into the gmake process, I got a compilation error. I typed 'gmake' again and have pasted the output below (and snipped what I think to be irrelevant/redundant because of length [45k total], e-mail me for the full error message): [root@Nintendo src]# gmake gcc -o zsnes chips/sfxproc.o chips/fxemu2.o chips/dsp1proc.o chips/fxemu2b.o chips/fxemu2c.o chips/fxtable.o chips/sa1proc.o chips/sa1regs.o chips/dsp1emu.o cpu/addrni.o cpu/dma.o cpu/dsp.o cpu/dspproc.o cpu/execute.o cpu/irq.o cpu/memory.o cpu/spc700.o cpu/stable.o cpu/table.o cpu/tableb.o cpu/tablec.o linux/copyvwin.o linux/sdlintrf.o linux/sdllink.o linux/sw_draw.o linux/zloaderw.o linux/ztcp.o linux/zipxw.o linux/zfilew.o linux/protect.o dos/debug.o dos/joy.o dos/modemrtn.o dos/vesa2.o dos/initvid.o dos/sw.o dos/gppro.o dos/vesa12.o gui/gui.o gui/menu.o video/makev16b.o video/makev16t.o video/makevid.o video/mode716.o video/mode716b.o video/mode716d.o video/mode716e.o video/mode716t.o video/mode7.o video/mode7ext.o video/mv16tms.o video/newg162.o video/newgfx16.o video/newgfx2.o video/newgfx.o video/m716text.o video/2xsaiw.o video/procvid.o video/sw_draw.o zip/zzip.o zip/unzip.o zip/zpng.o cfgload.o endmem.o fixsin.o init.o ui.o vcache.o water.o smoke.o -pipe -I. -Wall -D__LINUX__ -INONE -I/usr/include/SDL -D_REENTRANT -DNO_PNG -Os -ffast-math -fomit-frame-pointer -fschedule-insns2 -s -march=pentiumpro -LNONE -L/usr/lib -Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib -lSDL -lpthread -lz chips/dsp1emu.o: In function `C4Op1F': chips/dsp1emu.o(.text+0x3ef): undefined reference to `atan' chips/dsp1emu.o: In function `DSPOp02': chips/dsp1emu.o(.text+0x94b): undefined reference to `tan' chips/dsp1emu.o(.text+0x9e2): undefined reference to `tan' chips/dsp1emu.o(.text+0xa44): undefined reference to `tan' chips/dsp1emu.o(.text+0xbae): undefined reference to `tan' chips/dsp1emu.o: In function `GetRXYPos': chips/dsp1emu.o(.text+0xc76): undefined reference to `tan' chips/dsp1emu.o(.text+0xcb7): more undefined references to `tan' follow /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11video.lo): In function `X11_Available': SDL_x11video.lo(.text+0x1d): undefined reference to `XOpenDisplay' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11wm.lo): In function `X11_SetIcon': SDL_x11wm.lo(.text+0x2fd): undefined reference to `XFreeColors' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11yuv.lo): In function `X11_CreateYUVOverlay': SDL_x11yuv.lo(.text+0x234): undefined reference to `XFree' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(Xv.lo): In function `xv_close_display': Xv.lo(.text+0x25): undefined reference to `XextRemoveDisplay' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_dgavideo.lo): In function `DGA_Available': SDL_dgavideo.lo(.text+0x31): undefined reference to `XDisplayName' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_loadso.o): In function `SDL_LoadObject': SDL_loadso.o(.text+0x12): undefined reference to `dlopen' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11events.lo): In function `X11_KeyRepeat': SDL_x11events.lo(.text+0x27): undefined reference to `XPending' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11events.lo): In function `get_modifier_masks': SDL_x11events.lo(.text+0xe39): undefined reference to `XGetModifierMapping' SDL_x11events.lo(.text+0xe8f): undefined reference to `XKeycodeToKeysym' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11gamma.lo): In function `X11_SetGammaNoLock': SDL_x11gamma.lo(.text+0x123): undefined reference to `XSync' /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11gl.lo): In function `X11_GL_GetVisual': SDL_x11gl.lo(.text+0x63): undefined reference to `XGetWindowAttributes' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11gl.lo)(.text+0x8fb): more undefined references to `dlsym' follow /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11image.lo): In function `try_mitshm': SDL_x11image.lo(.text+0xf8): undefined reference to `XSetErrorHandler' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11modes.lo): In function `set_best_resolution': SDL_x11modes.lo(.text+0x2d1): undefined reference to `XFree' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11mouse.lo): In function `X11_FreeWMCursor': SDL_x11mouse.lo(.text+0x40): undefined reference to `XFreeCursor' [snip] `XChangePointerControl' /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_x11mouse.lo): In function `X11_CheckMouseModeNoLock': SDL_x11mouse.lo(.text+0x714): undefined reference to `XGetPointerControl' SDL_x11mouse.lo(.text+0x788): undefined reference to `XChangePointerControl' /usr/lib/libSDL.a(XF86VMode.lo): In function `find_display': XF86VMode.lo(.text+0x24): undefined reference to `XextCreateExtension' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(XF86DGA2.lo): In function `xdga_close_display': XF86DGA2.lo(.text+0x25): undefined reference to `XextRemoveDisplay' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(XF86DGA.lo): In function `SDL_XF86DGAGetVideoLL': XF86DGA.lo(.text+0xa9): undefined reference to `XMissingExtension' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(Xinerama.lo): In function `find_display': Xinerama.lo(.text+0x24): undefined reference to `XextCreateExtension' [snip] /usr/lib/libSDL.a(SDL_dgaevents.lo): In function `DGA_DispatchEvent': SDL_dgaevents.lo(.text+0x2f): undefined reference to `XNextEvent' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status gmake: *** [zsnes] Error 1 Can anyone advise me as to what the problem could be, as well as a possible solution? If you're like me, you don't mind getting hardware for your linux machine provided it doesn't cost too much. I'm happy to announce new gamepad drivers for the Gravis Multiport. They are perfect for people who want to want to play multiplayer games under linux without spending lots of money on gamepads/joysticks. The Multiport allows up to four digital gamepads to be plugged in at once. It is an elegant, rugged device that is especially good for playing emulated Super Nintendo games, since the gamepads match the Super Nintendo gamepad configuration. But they work with any gamepad-supported games under linux, including XMAME, etc. Best of all, the multiport can be bought cheaply (for around US $10) because there have been no working drivers since MS-DOS and Windows 95. Originally, it cost in the neighborhood of US $100. For information on finding Multiports and downloading the GPL drivers, visit the following website: http://members.cox.net/bonnlander Many thanks to Vojtech Pavlik, Bill Soudan, and Chris Gassib for their help in making these drivers possible. --Brian |

i have successfully finished assigning keys for the game chrono trigger which i am currently playing. during gameplay i find that when i try to execute the running action it does not work. normally for snes games one owuld need to press the cancel button in conjunction with a direction. when i try and do this crono (the main character) does a run step and then stops running. it there a way where i can configure the keys to allow him to run for prolonged periods of time rather than just a split second? i hope i articulated my problem across clearly. it would help if i got the information as soon as possible |
