... it looks like the official 1.0.0 release of Zort was just a little over two years ago now. Awesome. So happy birthday, my tiny little creation!
One look at the Changelog tells the whole sordid tale - this release was basically ready to go in early November of 2006, and it's now nearly August! What horror! How could I be so callous and unthinking towards my legions of desperate fans?
I dunno, man, things got BUSY or something.
Anyway, Zort 1.1.0 has finally made it to a SourceForge mirror near YOU, and assuming that I still have any users at this point, there's a number of new improvements and features available for your edification:... read more
Hello, anyone who may actually look at this page from time to time!
I know that new Zort releases are few and far between, but it is still an active project, and lately I've been adding in a bunch of features which I've thought would be handy, and which other people have asked for.
One of the new things that the CVS version of Zort can do is sanitize the HTML returned from the feeds that it gets, so long as PHP's interface to "HTML Tidy" is available on the system. This helps when a feed includes some really bad HTML which ends up breaking Zort's display.... read more
While attending the Zort 1.0.1 release party, [1] I was struck by the realization that, packaged like it was, it would be pretty easy for someone upgrading to 1.0.1 to accidentally overwrite their config.php with the sample provided. There's no automatic mechanism which would have done so itself, but it would be a simple matter of untarring the new release over the old one, and POOF! There go your feeds.... read more
Eight and a half months in the making!
Forty-seven changed lines of code!
Possibly tens of users!
THESE are attributes which apply to the heralded, oft-awaited release of Zort 1.0.1!
Zort 1.0.1 sports the following incredible enhancements, all for one low, low cost:
* Atom feeds will now show the full article properly
* Opera will now correctly hide areas which should be hidden
* Images included in feeds which were CSS aligned left or right will be properly contained
* Bundled with MagpieRSS 0.72 now (previously 0.70)
* ... and other small superficial tweaks and fixes.... read more
The Zort CVS tree hasn't been touched since Jan. 31st, so I suppose that I'll just consider it "stable" and cut a 1.0.0 release. I really should have done so months ago.
Regardless, Zort 1.0.0 features quite a few improvements over 1.0.0-pre1. There are two primary feature enhancements:
* Support for multiple pages (only load categorized RSS fees if requested)
* config.php uses a class to make configuring feeds trivially easy without having to worry about creating arrays and worrying about indexes, etc.... read more
Now that sf.net's upload server let me upload the files, I've got the release "officially" in place. See the File Releases section to grab your copy TODAY!
Zort is yet another PHP-based RSS Aggregator. It's got minimalism in mind, and isn't loaded down with a bunch of bells and whistles. In fact, at last count it has but two bells and half a whistle, TOTAL. I'd go into more detail, but I already put up detail elsewhere so I'll just link to it.
You can find a general overview there, along with some screenshots to show you what sort of beauty can be YOURS for one very low, low price of "free."... read more
