Zodiak is a toolkit for processing documents in the OASIS Open Document format, which is the default document format for the OpenOffice 2.0 suite. It is my intent to create a set of tools, delivered as a Java library along with a few command-line utilities, that can be integrated into other applications, used by shell scripts, or invoked directly by end users (at least those who are comfortable with the CLI). Zodiak will support features such as text searching (using regular expressions), value searching (for finding cell values in spreadsheets rather than their formatted text renderings), document merging (to fill in a document template with dynamic data or content from an external source), and much more.
