Hello there, I would like to contribute to zinf ..starting with code documentation and then adding some support eg - displaying all the shoutcast streams - like "winamp's shoutcast radio". Pls let me know. Chet __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com |

I have used zinf off and on now for a while...going back and forth between it and mpd. I like that zinf is customizable with themes yet I would like to also be able to control it without launching the ui...is this possible? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello, I have downloaded and compiled zinf. The following were my steps: $ configure --prefix=3D$HOME/zinf $ make $ make install I now have the binary in my $HOME/zinf/bin directory but I get the following error: No UI plugin in '.:~/.zinf:/usr/local/lib/zinf' matched 'plugins/musicbrowser.ui' or 'plugins/musicbrowser.ui.ui.' Zinf will quit. How do I tell zinf to look in $HOME/zinf/lib/zinf for the UI components? Daniel |

In Linux, what do you need to type at the command prompt in order to run Zinf and automatically start playing a playlist? |

Make sure you kill your ~/.zinf and also that there are not left over installed pieces from previous installations. If you want a real thrill do install gtkmm-dev, and metakit=20 and do configure --enable-experimental There is a new gtk interface that is enabled by changing=20 MusicBrowserUI: musicbrowsermm.ui in the ~/.zinf/preferences It's still a little raw but getting there. Any seperate files it writes like the database and playlists are stored wherever it was installed, e.g. C:\Program Files\Zinf. (Yes, these really really should be put in Documents and Settings) I've no idea if deleting the settings will actually help, but it does seems to fix a suprisingly large amount of problems. I've been using Zinf for several weeks now and for some reason it stopped working (I am on a Win XP system). When I try to play something, everything comes up just fine, but it acts as if it is in Pause mode (although the pause button is displayed). When I click the pause button it switches properly to a play button, and clicking it switches it back to a pause button. Unfortunately, nothing happens. I see the mp3 lined up in the playlist, but there is no action. I unchecked "Default action is to queue tracks" (though that is the main reason I like it) but that does not appear to have any effect. Is there anything I can do? Does anyone have an idea what is wrong or what I can check? I'd really like to continue to use it (thus the extra effort of joining this list) because it does everything I am looking for - except for the fact that it no longer works. <g> Cheers - george -- http://EclecticMix.com http://DRiPInvesting.org http://GLSmyth.com |

Hi folks, I have installed zinf 2.2.1 on a machine with Win2000 for a user who has no administrative rights. It functions well when I log in since I have full admin rights. But the other user does not. The user can play mp3s, but cannot save playlists. It seems that zinf insists on saving playlists on a subfolder of \program files\zinf\ where users with no admin rights cannot write files. How can I fix the situation? I looked at the registry to see if I could change the save playlist location but had no success. Also, I tried to install zinf directly into c:\documents and settings\use\zinf\ but that didn't work either. In fact I couldn't start it at all from the user account. Help please. gc PS: This message was initially posted on 'zinf-support' on 12/4/2004. However, the list appears to be dead. The link at http://www.zinf.org/geeks.php to the zinf-support mailing list archive at http://www.geocrawler.com/redir-sf.php3?list=zinf-support is unresponsive |

Well, the work on the win32 version pretty much stopped after 2.2.1. There has been an attempt to get=20 the new GTK2.4 version in CVS compiled under win32 but=20 I am not sure how far along it got. In the future we may spend some time to get win32 also, but=20 right now we just want to make the new interface is complete. Hello, I noticed an interesting problem. When accessing a HTTP Apache stream, Zinf can't recognize the file properly if the URL has any parameters and thus can't play the file resulting in corrupted file. I'm using Zinf 2.2.1 for win32. Here is an example: http://streamer.radiorota.cz/archiv/test/romproudmoderni.ogg this can be played properly http://streamer.radiorota.cz/archiv/test/romproudmoderni.ogg?something=1 this results in corrupted file message Am I doing something wrong? Winamp or VLC player can play both there URL's Thanx for replys, Jan |

Drag&Drop worked only internally to the zinf application, A new browser is being built that removes this limitation. Not sure about the other error, looks like the buffer used to get the file name has some other filename in it (ending with erav.mp3). I can't reproduce this behavior. Hello everybody, can someone give me a hint how to make running Drag&Drop in the Rox fil= er? I have a MDK92, and I can drag&drop files into Playlist only in Kon= queror. Neither Nautilus, nor Rox are working. Nautilus does add the file to playlist, but Zinf cannot find it (probab= ly because of %20 used instead of spaces) Rox cannot even drop it to Zinf.
