#2 Configure/Autoconf for Building Source

Some sort of automatted detection of the build platform
would really be useful for those building the
application from source. I always seem to have to
fiddle with the Makefile for it to build correctly on
my Linux box. I'd be happy to work on it, if you'd
like . . .

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, autoconf/configure or the like
would be good. I've never quite had sufficient time or
motivation to get up to speed on autoconf, so if you'd like to
pick this up I'd be grateful.
