Hi, I'm a newbie Linux user!! Pleas help me!! :-/ I've just installed Ubuntu Feisty, but soon I had to cope with this annoying wireless issue. I can configure my network without any problems using NetManager, and I can access the net and surf correctly for a while (it depends, hours, minutes or maybe just seconds!). Then something _strange_ happens and my USB device disconnects (I've attached the log file). The system starts running much slower, iwconfig/lsusb commands don't run on terminal, and (obviously) I cannot access the network anymore. I have to reboot to have it working again. I tried following Tim Gardner's advice on this forum and use mac80211 drivers: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/74362
Try a more current driver by blacklisting zd1211rw: edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and add zd1211rw edit /etc/modules and add zd1211rw-mac80211 Either reboot or 'modprobe zd1211rw-mac80211', then insert the zd1211.
but it doesn't work anyway. Moreover, with this driver, the PC gets stuck and I have to reboot it using the reboot button (alt-print-b does not work); so that i had to switch back to softmac drivers. I actually don't know what to do... :-| Do you have the solution? My system characteristics (you can have a more detailed overview giving a look at hwinfo file attached): USB net adapter: Gigafast, chip AL2230, ID 0ace:1215 Ubuntu Feisty, kernel 2.6.20 Processor: Vendor: "GenuineIntel" Model: 15.2.7 "Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz" THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
