Hi, everybody

What is currently the best way to generate and edit a video?

I prefer mp1e for generation, because of the good a/v sync.
mp1e outputs an MPEG stream.
many video editors seem do not support this format as input stream,
or are there any I still don't know?
What are the main dis/advantages of the various fileformats?
(QuickTime, AVI, ...)
Which of them are goot for filesize >2GB?
Which of them are decodeable partly (i.e. when you don't have 
the beginning and the end of a stream)?
Which converters are availlable and which of them work without
loss of quality (i.e. by copying) ?
