We're on the countdown for version 1.7.1 now, with lots of goodies. Hopefully this will be before the end of the month.
For those following the development of the master branch, there is a significant redesign of the bank code. New banks and roots are still created in an entirely compatible form with the original, but the code is leaner and (on my setup) seems to run faster. Also some corner cases where the bank numbering could be unintentionally altered have been dealt with.
These are still more improvements to be made, but the code should be stable. Please report any bugs you find.
Sorry people. Another bugfix release :(
Changing LFO type was crashing Yoshimi.
Thanks to the efforts of one of Yoshimi's little band of helpers, there is a significant upgrade coming early next year... probably next month in fact.
Version 1.6.1 is out there now - just in time for trying out over the holiday. Not a great deal on the surface, but like the swam, lots of activity under the surface :)
Yoshimi takes a different route for handling XML files when used as an LV2 plugin. However, it seems that this was also vulnerable to the change in mxml' api.
Fixed now.
A bug in the microtonal section turned up, along with a very rare and obscure one in the waveform section. Both fixed now.
We try to make sure we're a squeaky clean as possible, but when a library gets changes just two days before our release, we don't have much chance.
Anyway, if you're having problems at startup, or loading files, version 1.6.0.1 fixes it.
It's taken a while this time, but it's here and very complete. New version, new usaer gude, and very shiny new website for your enjoyment.
Unfortunately it was discovered that there was a bug that appeared only with Gnome or KDE desktops. It was very strnage and resulted in the startup message freezing Yoshimi until it was clicked on. All fixed now.
A lot of new goodies here (as described in the README, but also preparations for yet more imbovements.
We had hoped to release version 1.5.10 just before Christmas, but a couple of issues turned up that made very subtle changes to the more complex instruments. We've always maintained that, regardless of any enhancements, Yoshimi will never change the sound of existing instrument patches. Therefore we put this on hold until we were satisfied we had found and resolved these problems.
After a lst minute dash, we have version 1.5.9 out there now. Not much to see for most of you, but a LOT more for those using the command line interface
Preparing for this year's Linux Audio Conference has revealed yet more bugs, so we have another bugfix release (1.5.8.2) just a couple of days ahead of this.
Sorry for messing everyone about :(
Another bugfix :(
Sorry about that, but a couple of very minor annoyances crept in. You can hardly call them bugs as they didn't stop anything working - just made some GUI controls a bit counter-intuitive. All fixed now.
This is probably the fastest turnaround we've ever had. Some suprises from our new BSD friends, some unwelcome bugs, and a couple of useful additions.
Here it is, just in time for the festive season. Quite a lot of improvements, as a quick look at README.txt will reveal :)
The current 'master' can now be compiled and run under freeBSD, thanks to a new contributor to the project and quite a bit of work from one of Yoshimi's little band of helpers.
Another sneaky bug surfaced, only under very specific circumstances, but was important enough for us to quickly push out a bugfix release. At the same time a couple of minor anomallies were corrected.
Well, on the surface not much has changed, but there has been a major cleanup of the underlying code to remove ophaned and inactive code.
The best news is that a very advanced user guide now ships with Yoshimi.
Unfortunately a regression crept into kit mode that prevented you from changing selected effects for an individual kit. This was thought to be important enough to justify a bugfix release.
In the current master scales, tunings and keymaps are undergoing a major overhaul. There is clearer error reporting, safer fall-back positions, and preparations for full command line access.
That's version 1.5.2 with more goodies and extensions
