Since upgrading to RedHat 8.0 from 7.1, images are no
longer seen. This may be because of Apache 2.0.
Check http://pictures.nopants.org for my broken site.
Email brian@nopants.org if you have a solution.

Same problem:
I was running yappa on a Redhat 7.3 machine (Apache 1.3
/PHP4). It was working perfectly ok, generating
thumbnails,resizing, etc. etc.
I now upgraded to Redhat 8.0 (Apache 2.0.4 / PHP 4.2.2), and
I can see neither the thumbnails nor the pictures. All
settings are the same. I can see the pages though: If I
click on the filenames, the pic is not shown.
[Fri Oct 25 23:30:50 2002] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File
does not exist:
/var/www/html/yappa/show.php/thumbnail/tamilsangam/p9280134.jpg,
referer:
http://localhost/yappa/index.php?album=%2Ftamilsangam&
This is the error that Apache writes out when the album page
tries to load. Hope that helps.

This is the original poster here.
I downgraded Apache and PHP to the versions included in
Redhat 7.3 updates and yappa works fine.
If you use Yappa, you should not upgrade to Redhat 8.0
because it probably won't work.
Also, RedHat should be more careful with their .0 releases!

Thanks a bunch for verifying that a downgrade of PHP and
Apache got yappa working. And thanks for posting that here,
I found that very helpful!
It might not be that Redhat needs to be more careful - The
issue is with PHP:
- PHP versions have strange intercompatibility problems -
most issues here are known
- PHP does NOT yet officially support Apache 2.0, though
they seem to be working well.
PHP does release excellent information on developing php
scripts, and I guess the problem here is that yappa is not
at all actively maintained, which is why we have the problem
in the first place.
All the other PHP s/w packages that I use are being actively
developed, and have absolutely no problems with redhat
8.0....its a pity yappa does, because its a neat s/w with a
small footprint.
Thanks again for posting!

Yes, I've read about PHP not officially supporting apache 2.0
(yet). This is why RedHat should not have released 8.0 w/
the new versions of apache and php. How many other
webserver admins are wrestling with broken php scripts right
now? Too many!

Everyone with Apache 2.0.. Add the
directive "AcceptPathInfo on" to your apache configuration for
the yappa directory. This application uses path information to
pass information between pages and apache 2.0 requires an
additional configuration to enable this feature..
