Yes, on the right of the Options sheet, there are buttons to save and load your character. These will let you save your character into a smaller file that you can then load into the newer version.
You'll need to have macros turned on to do this.

Hi, potential new user here; I can't seem to get the file (9.16) to open in OpenOffice, nor Google Spreadsheet; does this sheet require a real version of Excel?

Yes, I'm afraid you need actual Excel. 2010 or later should work. 2007 is ok if you have some service packs installed.
It's too big for Google sheets, and although I believe it was originally compatible with OpenOffice, that was before I started working on it, and I believe it needed too many things that were incompatible.

Is there a way to "convert" an older version sheet to the latest without re-entering all the data all over again?
