Containers carried by the animal companion (A.C.) are not adding the weight of the container's cargo to the A.C.
My A.C. has these items directly added to their cargo
The A.C. sheet reflects this total of 45 lbs.
However, the saddlebags have 38 lbs of gear inside of them as a container, so since those saddlebags are on the A.C., that extra 38 lbs should also be part the AC's encumbrance (so 83 lbs), instead of my PC's.
If I mark the saddle bags as not being carried, the 38 lbs drops off my PC's encumbrance.

Right now the best way to handle it is to mark that you aren't carrying it, or mark the items as carried by the A.C. I will look into a way to track items and their containers like we intuitively understand them to be, however as the builder functions right now, it isn't possible. A quick thought that I had as to why this hasn't been implemented before, is what happens if you have two Saddlebags? The builder doesn't have a way of distinguishing which is which.
Again, I will look into it, as it may be possible, but I think it will take some work and creativity on my part to get working right. Thank you for letting me know about this! Happy Gaming!
