I just noticed a page on the Ruby Wiki that summarizes the Ruby Windows
Installer. It's really a nice package, with a basic IDE, an irb GUI,
and a ton of libraries. The Wiki page also lets you vote for new packages
to be added to the distribution. I was surprised to find YAML.rb listed
with 4 votes. So I added mine. :)
I know there are Ruby Windows users on this list, so I thought I'd inform
you of the page so you can help exert your influence. The Windows Installer
already contains three XML parser packages and while they are much more mature
than YAML.rb, I'd say it takes a greater effort to write an XML parser than it does
to write a YAML parser.
You'll also notice that Racc (which YAML.rb depends upon) only has three
votes. Upcoming releases of YAML.rb will likely use Racc, but not require it
as a dependency for the user. But, still, if you vote for YAML.rb, please also
vote for Racc. It is an essential tool.
