I tried playing SMahs Bros. in mupen64 using a wiimote/nunchuk setup. In the main menu there is just a really little delay compared to the keyboard input, but when getting graphics, even in the character chooosing menu I get a havy delay on my inputs which increases in gameplay and makes the game unplayable. The delay ingame is about 8-10 seconds.
I tried that using the nunchuk_n64.xwii that comes with xwii and a modified version of that, both the same result.
When I use a wiimote-only configuration I don't get that delay at all.

I can personally use the wiimote and nun-chuk with smash-bros in mupen just fine. XWii never interacts with mupen in any way so it is unlikely that it is the specific combination of the two. Unless you can give me some instructions on how to replicate the bug, I am afraid that I don't know how to help. It may be an issue specific to your setup somehow.
There is a known bug upstream in version 0.9 of wiiuse that XWii is based on which causes input issues (but not delay that I'm aware of) when an extension is plugged into or unplugged from the wii remote while XWii is already running. Did you have the nun-chuk plugged in before or after pairing the Wii Remote with the computer?

I just tried how the input delay behaves outside mupen when smash bros is running and it's the same behaviour. Although I recognized that the delay is getting bigger by (a short) time (no matter if I'm in mupen or not). When SB is closed I don't get any delay at all.
My mupen plugins are:
Gfx: Rice's Video Plugin 6.1.0
Audio: JttL's SDL plugin 1.3
Input: blight's SDL input plugin 0.0.10
RSP: Hacktarux/Azimer hle rsp plugin
Just for the record, I'm having an 2GHz Athlon XP +, GeForce 4 Ti, 256MB DDR RAM.
PS: Hm, that's interessting: I forgot to close my console window where I started xwii and it was still running although mupen was shut down about quarter an hour ago. The controller delay was still there.

I tried recompiling xwii, but it didn't make a change. Though I get a warning at the first paragraph of make: main.cpp:67: warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’
But no errors at all.
