I can't really help you there. I had the same problem. Nothing seemed to work. A modified vvinstall script just produced the same errors at a different level. Using Justin Mason's script, everything just crashed. Then suddenly, everything started working and I have had no problems since. I don't know why. It may possibly be something to do with the version of libstdc++, but I am not competent to say that. At the moment I have 4 libstdc++ packages installed including the "devel" package of the newest (6-3.4.3-7.) It may be worthwhile installing the "devel" package for your distro, although it shouldn't be needed (and I don't think that it is listed as a dependency) if you installed xvoice from an RPM.
