Same here. It worked for a short time on the machine (Aldi,
German "december edition" with XP-Home), after some software
updates, among them WinOnCD 5.0 PE which I suspect to be
responsible, the drives are not recognized any more

I had the same problem on my xp machine. It came when I
installed ASPI ver 4.71.2 from adaptec.
Problem solved by downloading aspi ver 4.70 and swapping
    aspi32.sys and wnaspi32.dll in the system32/driver and
system32 folders with the "older" version ones.
It might not be the "right" way to do it, but it worked for
    me :D

I had the same problem using a Gigabyte board with intel
chipset and drivers. The problem disappeared after i updated
my IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers using the windows driver update
    facility.
    Worth A shot.

I had installed ASPI 4.71.2 as well. Removing the two files
from the windows\system32 directory got me working again -
no need to install an older version! I suppose CD-DA
X-Tractor then falls back on a different access method.
