Hi everybody,

As you can see this project has not been updated since January 2006, so I now marked it as being inactive. This has several reasons, among them the following:

- I am quite busy with a lot of other stuff (work, for one thing) so I don't really have the time to spend a lot of time on this project.
- There never really was any real demand for this application. This certainly is also because I never advertised this application anywhere.
- Being an administrator of currently two mail servers, I am now quite convinced that the current mail system based on SMTP will never be able to solve the problem of SPAM without some compromises or awkward hacks. So I actually think why not introduce a completely new mail system, which also has other advantages (I know, this idea is not very popular). I have actually been working on and off on a proof of concept prototype of a new mail system. But I cannot even say if I ever will publish something.... read more

This is release a8 of XToken. It contains a new type of token, the ForwardToken. This token has an address tied to it and as soon as a message is received with a ForwardToken the message is forwarded to the address which is tied to the ForwardToken.
This allows to have a secret forwarding address to which important messages (i.e. with a ForwardToken) are forwarded.

This is release 7.
There are mainly internal changes like:

- Remote public keys are now stored together with the sender address.
- Rewrote parts to use JDOM to facilitate XML handling.
- Because of including JDOM a license update has become necessary. The XToken license now also includes an exception for JDOM.

This release brings changes in the token format (which is unfortunately incompatible to the old format) and some bugfixes.

This release adds a new type of automatic reply tokens and some small bugfixes.

This release fixes Windows support and includes a launcher for the Windows platform.

In the release a3 the status bar now finally works. Some changes to the code invisible to the user were also introduced.

A new release of XToken is online, the second alpha version. This version contains changes how services are started and stopped.
