in home.php when installing, the following appears (and I've no clue where to look for a solution)
    Hacking attempt
Fatal error: Call to undefined function readViews() in /var/www/vhosts/sedberghcoft.org.uk/httpdocs/crm/xrms/include/classes/Pager/Pager_Columns.php on line 227

I'm not aware of any official PHP message that would say "Hacking Attempt", so some googling and a call to your hosting provider may be in order.

Needless to say, I do not get this error when using the pager that appears on many, many pages in XRMS.

      Regards,

No, it's in the code. Many modules have  'echo "Hacking Attempt"' at the start if a defined variable is not set.  The problem is with finding which module. So many of them have this code at the start that it'll be an enormous job tracking down which one is coughing.
