Hi, to first try to answer your question (or at least comment on it): I'm not sure what the exact hardware requirements are. An older sparc *should* be fine, although xpilot-ng is probably a bit more expensive than xpilot-4.5 The AMD 2600 where my servers run on uses normally less than 1% of CPU for a single server - I'm aware that this isnt too helpful :) On the other hand: a decent duron machine (without monitor) costs around 300-400 euro - from what I've heared, my guess would be that it's no problem to rise that kind of money for a server when collecting from the players. So if you are able to get your hands onto a kth-like connection with ping times under 50 ms all over europe, getting the server-hardware should not be impossible (although one'd need to sort out formal ownership etc.) That machine would then be able to run 10 different servers (or more) at once without problems (and actually still do a lot of other things). \\ Karsten // |
