#7 Back port fix to ver 2.1 for all pads displayed on startup

Any chance of backporting the fix for all pads being
displayed on startup to verision 2.1? I'd like to move
forward to the newer versions that have this fix, but
I've been unable to work through the dependency hell to
upgrade from GTK+ 2.4 to 2.6. Is there a workaround
for this problem short of manually closing all pads?

The idea doesn't excite me. What distro are you using? You
can't just update from some sort of package?
