I'm beginning to add rudimentary Doxygen-style documentation to the project, I will update this as I go along and I welcome assistance.
All this patch does (should do) is add comments for Doxygen.
Also attached is the doxygen config file I am using to generate documentation.

Looks like I redid part of this. I added a Doxygen configuration file (aka Doxyfile) and a corresponding Makefile target, but haven't modified the source. I think it would be a good idea to make the existing comments usable by Doxygen before adding any more, Anyway, here are my patches up to now.
