I am interested in using Xournal to annotate PDF slides produced using Beamer (LaTeX) during presentations in an academic environment, and later distribute the annotated PDF slides to the students.

I realize that this is not the intended use of Xournal, but all the features needed to do this are almost in place. Adding one more tiny feature would make Xournal the perfect tool to do this.

I use a 2-in-1 laptop with a touchscreen interface, running Linux Mint, to give my presentations. Since the keyboard is inaccessible in tablet mode, however, I need to have the Pen toolbar (to switch between pen colors and eraser) and Main toolbar (to move to the next slide and enter/exit full screen mode) visible when in full screen mode. The problem is that these two toolbars occupy a lot of valuable space at the bottom of the screen, minimizing the space available for the slides themselves. I propose the following solutions to solve this problem:

1) (probably harder) Make the pen and main toolbars visible only when hovering over them, like in Okular.
2) (probably easier) Allow placing the pen and main toolbars side-by-side to occupy lesser vertical space.

Would really appreciate it if you would consider implementing one of these features. My only other alternative is to switch to Windows and use PowerPoint, which I would really really like to avoid if possible. There are a number of people out there like me who are looking for a way to make and save annotations on slides during presentations in an academic environment, and this would really make life a LOT better for them.

Thanks a lot
