i use xournal everyday for working on draft papers before they are typed. i include many drawings and need a method to cut a drawing from xournal and paste it into openoffice.word

jarnal has found a way to do this, which is not perfect, but works: the cut produces a tmp file and the tmp file is then linked to the document. at the end one breaks the links to force inclusion into the file.
(i hate to have to switch to jarnal for just this reason - the stroke quality of xournal is much nicer and it is smaller as well)

could this be included?

Added to the to-do list. It's not completely straightforward because it requires being able to render the journal to a bitmap, something which libgnomecanvas doesn't seem to provide.
(so it will need new rendering code. Of course there's plenty of ways of rendering to a bitmap, but one should be attention to graphical quality, anti-aliasing, ...)

Since your aim here is not to replicate word-processor functions, I feel like this is an especially important feature to have available so that we can quickly move diagrams into typed notes.

As-is, I'm using screen-grabs and then cropping them. This is clearly sub-optimal.
