From Claudio Bruzzese: I should like report some issue when using Xournal under zoom screen sharing: I use Xournal for teaching, since there is no other tool comparable. Under zoom, if I share only the Xournal application window, all is fine. But, this is not practical if I want to display at the same time also other resources (pdf files, web resources, etc). So I need to share all the desktop. When doing so, however, Xournal (version 0.4.8.16 win32 under win10) behaves somewhat strange: the tool bar is no more responsive to the pen, however it turn back responsive when I touch with the pen the upper part of the window (the strip with written "Xournal"). So that I must first touch the strip and then select the tool. And not only the tool bar get idle, but also the "pressure sensitivity" functionality turns off, together with the pen trace smoothing (the written trace appears trembling), with the result that the writing quality deteriorates significantly. May I add this report to the bug series in Source forge website? Thank You for Your time and consideration!
Sorry to hear about this issue. Yes, it does seem like a bug; unfortunately I'm not really able to do any serious testing, as I don't even have a working Windows laptop at the moment + don't understand how Zoom's sharing works. (In linux it also has some unpleasant side effects, but mostly some small display bugs -- nothing as drastic as what you report with the Windows version).
Just in case, I would suggest checking whether you have the latest version of the Wacom pen driver, and the latest version of Zoom -- since this sounds like a bad interaction between those two pieces of software. But I'm not optimistic that this has been on anyone's list of priority issues to fix, given that it must be a very specific bug (not very many Windows applications use the Wacom driver, and even fewer of them use the libraries that xournal relies on, or even get used within Zoom desktop sharing...)
Just because some of the bugs in Linux related to sharing xournal via zoom are affected by this: does it matter whether the xournal window is maximized (the whole display) or just a few pixels smaller than the screen?
Thanks for Your interest Denis!
Answer to Your question: actually, no.
I have noticed that the "UseXInput" option under "Options" (which enables features such as "pressure sensitivity") becomes ineffective, which produces the effects I described before. I use a Huion Kamvas 22 plus under Win 10 since cannot find drivers for Deb Buster...
